Of course, there are the essentials - coffee, mobile phone, email, weather app and downloading new tunes for your morning jog. That's how the day gets started for so many of us. From there, it’s on to the office, where we go from being the masters of our environment to being at the mercy of multiple systems, applications that aren’t integrated, and interfaces that don’t make any sense. Imagine what we can accomplish if we could work with the same types of tools and resources we have when we’re managing our “life”.
It's interesting to see how much of our routine is enabled and helped with technology. We like to pose the question, "I wonder what I did before I had my iPhone?", but the fact is that while things still got accomplished, the pace of business (and life) wasn't nearly as accelerated as it is now. Well into the 21st Century, we see a massive blending of how we access, use, and benefit from data and communication in all facets of our life. And the vast majority of it is driven by technology.
So just like how we rely on email, apps and other web-based services to run our daily lives, we should be able to operate in the same way at work. Yet, we tend to think of productivity as being situational, and we have been led to believe that when we're "at work", we should be sitting in front of a screen, moving in and out of applications, emails, chats and a host of other tools.
If you were to ask almost anyone which environment they prefer -- on-the-move, managing and modifying as-needed, or sitting in an office entering passwords into a different apps all day long -- most will tell you they want to operate their work environment like their personal life. Give me the tools, the resources, and access, and then I'm free to create!
Consider a dating app. If you had to move in and out of multiple different screens, log-in / log-out, adapt to different user interfaces, just to meet the partner of your dreams, the world would likely become a desolate, celibate place. We certainly don't want that.
So why should we want work to be any different? ZeyOS believes that you should be able to work in a way that matches how you live. In fact, we recognize that you are going to be far more productive and efficient when you can operate your work from a single workspace that covers all your working needs - communication, collaboration, commerce, and ultimately, control.
Technology is not meant to be arduous. Dating sites are a good example – software powers them, but the purpose, goals and end-results have nothing to do with technology (unless, of course, you seek a mate with whom you can geek out with while you discuss Ruby on Rails). So consider creating a work style that works the way you do, appreciates how you get things done, and gives you the satisfaction of being able to operate in the way you know best.
