Size Matters Because it's Irrelevant

CRM, ERP and All Enterprise Apps Require One Thing - Big Quality, Not Big Size

In the 90's, everything got super-sized. French fries, suburban homes, SUVs, stock valuations...if there was something to be had, companies found a way to make it bigger and then even bigger still. That wasn't that long ago, but we've made huge progress since then. It's a surprise it took so long, but we now understand that size is not what is important - no matter what the product or service is. Quality, applicability and relevance are the things that matter.

The same thing holds true for the software you use to operate your company. The size of the vendor, nor the amount of features in the application, are really of any importance. In fact, smart enterprises realize that size can be a hindrance because big companies generally take a long time to update their products and lag in innovation. What's more, they tend revert to the "bigger is better" mindset and justify their size by making things more complex. Users don't care about size; they just want to deliver an invoice, submit a timecard, or approve a request. Installation, upgrades, maintenance...these are things they neither care about, nor want to deal with.

Size, in fact, becomes such a negative factor that some of the big guys get themselves into needless trouble. They provide so many features and options that the application itself can barely be implemented. SAP, for example, is notorious for endless implementation and integration work that leads to nowhere. In the case of SAP customer, the City of Anchorage, Alaska, the cost, both financial and resource-wise, is wildly unbelievable. Three years into their project to roll out SAP software, "...Anchorage has spent million so far and budgeted another million for the project, but a further million to million is expected to be required to complete it. The municipality is currently spending 0,000 per week to keep it going."

Technology isn't supposed to do that; it's supposed to simplify. Yet, the big vendors keep trotting out versions of the emperor’s new clothes with promises of faster, better, smarter, etc.

Let's put this into perspective...we are a small business. We are on our way to becoming a very large business, but right now, within the walls (and virtual spaces) of ZeyOS, we operate as a small business. We look at our business and organizational needs, and the fact is, we have problems that needed a solution yesterday; there's no way we're going to wait months (or, if we used SAP or Oracle, YEARS!) to install and integrate applications that should be helping us immediately. A solution like that might scale, but to what benefit? We seek a solution that will allow us to operate with greater efficiency and better speed, and we want to do it right now.

Well, ZeyOS happens to be in the business of business software, so we've devised a solution that enables enterprises to operate in a way that serves them best - stick to their core functions, focus on building a business, and let technology be an enabler, not a hindrance. The ZeyOS solution brings every element of enterprise operations into a single dashboard - communications, calendaring, collaboration, CRM, finance, project management; these and so many other functions are provided in a cloud-based workspace that you turn on when you need it, and you can expect your "stuff" to be there.

Our customers don't ask us about size - they aren't concerned with how big we are or how many lines of code our application has. They ask if we can help them grow and be successful. The answer is a resounding "YES", and it is validated time and again by our happy, efficient and prosperous customers.
